Hi, I’m Michael Abbott, and I’m running to be your next Mayor of Coral Gables in 2025.

I’ve called Coral Gables home since 2002, and over the past two decades, I’ve grown deeply connected to this beautiful city—not just as a resident, but as a neighbor, advocate, and someone who genuinely cares about preserving the character and values of our community.

I come from a strong background in accounting, finance and audit, including auditing governments—tsimilar to Coral Gables. Currently serving as the Chief Financial Officer for SXG Holding Company (subsidiary: SynXGlobal, Inc.), a logistics transportation company. My professional experience spans decades in financial oversight, operations, and accountability—skills I believe are essential in leading our city with fiscal responsibility and transparency.

Beyond the numbers, I’ve been an active voice in local matters. I proudly co-founded the Coral Gables Action Committee, a nonprofit dedicated to ensuring city policies align with the best interests of our residents. I also took part in successful grassroots efforts like protecting Burger Bob’s and overturning outdated restrictions such as the driveway truck ordinance. I believe that practical leadership starts with listening and responding to the people.

Public service runs in my family too—my late brother John Abbott worked in Coral Gables' Building and Zoning Department, and his legacy is part of what motivates me to continue serving our city with integrity and heart.

My campaign is built on a foundation of transparency, community engagement, and accountability. I want Coral Gables to thrive—not only as a historic gem but as a model for responsible governance and citizen-driven leadership.
